It’s the “Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and we are ready! Child Formation is getting busy and working hard to welcome the birth of baby Jesus. What La joyous season and seeing it through the eyes of our youngest friends is such a powerful experience. The stories haven’t changed in over two thousand years and yet even as adults, every Christmas we listen and celebrate with the same excitement as if it was the first time we heard the news. Christ is Born!
Our focus, as is every year, will be the stories of Advent and the Birth. We will rejoice in song and busy ourselves with projects and art that will decorate our church and homes. This year we will be creating an Advent Christmas Tree Countdown. The children will receive individual small trees and make tiny ornaments that represent stories and people from the bible to decorate it and mark the days leading up to Christmas. I will also be encouraging them to get out their Giving Manger Project from last year to use with their families.
Miss Elise, our Choral Scholar and Child Formation Teacher, will be working with the children, along with Dr. Monroe, to get the children ready for the Christmas Pageant that takes place on Christmas Eve. The kids are excited to start practicing and are already talking about what parts they would like to play. Last year’s performance was such a success and there was standing room only in the Parish Hall! Plan on getting there early. Dr. Monroe will be assigning parts for the pageant on Sunday, November 24th at 11:30am in the Chorister Room.
I look forward to sharing another Christmas with all of you. I am excited to bring to life the stories of Jesus birth, the Love of the season and Hope for the new day with the children. I encourage all of us to keep close the true lessons this time of year brings and join all of our neighbors in joyful celebration!
